Message from the Chief

-Paul Hildreth-

Whether you are a resident of our community or just happened upon our website I would like to personally welcome you to the website for Fayetteville Fire & EMS. My hope is that our website provides you ample information regarding the services we offer our community, upcoming department-sponsored events, and the personnel that makes our organization special.

Fayetteville Fire & EMS was formally established in 1845 and has transformed from a volunteer department comprised entirely of local village residents into a combination department of volunteer and career members from throughout the greater Syracuse area. Consistently one of the busiest departments in Onondaga County, we take great pride in our ability to provide professional fire and EMS services to our community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

In 2009, Fayetteville Fire & EMS became the first department in the county to institute regular duty shifts for its volunteer members. This program, which is complemented by our career members, ensures consistent staffing for our apparatus at all times of the day, allowing us to respond immediately to an average of 4,000 calls for service each year. Fayetteville Fire & EMS demands the utmost professionalism from our members in all they do, and it gives me great pride as Chief to know it is often said that it is impossible to discern a difference between our volunteer and career staff members.

In addition to providing prompt and professional fire suppression and emergency medical services, our personnel also spend significant time throughout the year providing child safety seat inspections and installations, fire safety education, smoke, and carbon monoxide detector installation, first aid and CPR training, and many other services for the citizens of our community and surrounding communities. Additional information on the services we provide our community can be found under the Resource section of our website.

As Chief of the Department, I am always interested in feedback on the services we offer our community. Have a compliment or constructive criticism? Please feel free to contact me directly via our non-emergency number.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our site and please come back often.

Paul Hildreth
Chief of Fire
